Carmín de Peumo is Chile’s first icon Carmenere, making it an undeniable reference for the Chilean wine industry. Carmín de Peumo comes from Block 32 of the Peumo Vineyard in the Cachapoal Valley. This vineyard is naturally protected and located 170 meters above sea level on deep, clay-loam soils of alluvial origin. The subhumid Mediterranean climate features hot days and cold nights, and the influence of the Cachapoal River allows the temperatures to drop on summer nights, which encourages the grapes to ripen more slowly. The result is a very elegant, complex wine with layers of black currant, tobacco, and pencil lead that faithfully express its origin in the Peumo terroir. Carmín de Peumo is the greatest expression of Carmenere and the terroir of Peumo, one of the oldest wine-producing areas of Chile and one of Concha y Toro’s oldest vineyards, along with Pirque.
